In the initial report of casualties only those known dead were reported as such. A summary of best information available as to disposition of killed and mission follows:

KIA
Officers 2 - (1 died of burns, 1 killed vicinity 3rd crash).
Men 12 - Buried on Okinawa (died of drowning).

MIA
Officers 2 - Killed on board (1 in forward engineroom; 1 killed by strafing).
2 - Could not survive in water.
1 - Lost alongside rescue vessel.
Men 22 - Killed on board (4 in forward fireroom. 9 in forward engineroom,
1 in after fireroom, 4 in wardroom, 4 on torpedo mount #1.)
33 - Could not survive in water and were seen to go down.
10 - Lost alongside rescue vessels.
3 - No information.

(c) Recommendations for awards will be the subject of separate correspondence.
